me, day 28: my year

So it’s July and I’m supposed to give an overview (in detail, mind you) of my year. Sure. So, I’ll just give you what I can to this point and make my guesstimates about what’s to come for the rest of the year. Work for you? Good.

2010: At a Glance

January. Daddy’s birthday. Spring classes began. Annual youth ski trip to Boone, NC. Snowed/iced in at Evans’ house in Charlotte. Classes canceled due to bad weather in Charlotte. 5th dose of Radioiodine treatment. Mason took some Ordination exams.

February. Major southeast snow storm which included us being in Charlotte for the largest amount of snow Columbia has seen in a decade, joy. First Confirmation Retreat to Camp Fellowship. Valentines date. Baseball season started back up – Go Cocks!

March. Planning meetings with youth about upcoming fall events. Celebrated 5 years being cancer free! Pi Kappa Phi Sigma’s Centennial celebration weekend where Mason delivered the prayer at the banquet. New Kirk moved into the building. First worship service on Palm Sunday, March 28. Spring semester ended.

April. Good Friday trip to Chris Tomlin’s church in Atlanta with Kent & BA, Candy & Danny, Rusty & Jana. First Easter service at New Kirk. Nana had a fall at church on Easter, which led to a week of hospital stay and observations. Heritage Weekend vacation trip to Hilton Head Island. Some vacation days off of work at the end of the month, too.

May. Summer semester started. Awesome Youth Sunday service, May 16th. Nine youth confirmed on Confirmation Sunday, May 23rd. Jobs status change. Summer hours at work began!

June. Celebrated Mason’s 27th birthday with yet another surprise party. Lots of class group project work, including a full weekend stay in Charlotte with friends. College gang reunion at a friend’s wedding – mini-vacation on Lake Norman as a result. Job status change. Lot’s of Gamecock Baseball in the College World Series. Our 5th anniversary. Marc’s 30th birthday. Soss’ bridal shower. Departure for & trip to Omaha for the College World Series Championship. Gamecocks win the College World Series for our 1st major National Championship! Celebration in Omaha. Article in Post & Courier. Trip back to South Carolina.

July. Job status change. Overnight in Missouri & side trip to St. Louis arch en route home from Omaha. Anniversary trip to Grove Park Inn for the 4th of July. NKPY movie nights at church. Presbyterian Youth Triennium at Purdue University. Preparation for Montreat.

August. Montreat Youth Conference. (Subsequent recovery from PYT & MYC!) High School Reunion – 10 years. Ordination Exams. Mason preaches. CPE begins, hopefully.

September. Recovery from July & August. Fall Convocation. CPE, hopefully. Career Fairs. Work. NKPY Friday nights programs.

October. Trey’s 1st Birthday party! Faith Seeking Understanding series with Eugene Peterson. Mama’s birthday. 5K event, hopefully. Halloween with NKPY.

November. Middle School retreat. Thanksgiving. Basketball season begins.

December. End of CPE, hopefully.  Christmas. My 28th birthday. Matthew’s 25th birthday. New Years.

So, there you have it. My 2010 at a glance. Yes, there were some “announcements” in that list that I’ll expand upon later – changes, trips, etc. I’m trying to make my way thru the 30 Days of Me that I began before I pick back up with my “normal”  blogging.

Hope your year is shaping up to be, and continues to be as much fun as my year has been so far and looks to be!
