ordination exams

We’ve hit that point in our seminary careers where we join the ranks of those involved in Ordination Exams. Many, many, many seminarians from across the country will be taking exams today and tomorrow in hopes of passing for the sake of being ordained upon graduation. There are five total exams in five areas of competence for ministry: Bible Content, Theological Competence, Church Polity, Biblical Exegesis, and Worship & Sacraments. These are required for ordination, so there is basically no way of getting around them. Yippee. Wahoo. Exciting…not really.

We have both passed the first of the five exams: Bible Content. So, proof that we do somewhat know our Bible. Tomorrow we will be taking two more of the exams: Church Polity and Biblical Exegesis. And we’d like to ask for a bit of prayerful thoughts for both us and our friends and colleagues across the country who will be involved in the exams for the next several days.

Thanks for the prayers…we all really appreciate them!
